· TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS (TDG)
The employer must provide an emergency eyewash and shower where workers are exposed to hazards of injury from chemicals. (Industrial Establishments Regulation 851/90, 124)
Containers of compressed gas must be secured in position during transportation, storage, and use. Containers must be protected from physical damage. The valve protection cap must be in place when the container is not in use. (Industrial Establishments Regulation 851/90, 49)
A portable container used for dispensing flammable liquid in a work area must be made of material suitable to provide for the safety of all workers and have a spring-loaded cap and a flame arrestor. (Industrial Establishments Regulation 851/90, 23.)
Except for packaging, no other combustible material is allowed inside a
storage area. (Industrial Establishments Regulation 851/90, 5.34)
Flammable liquids must not be stored adjacent to exits or access routes to exits. (Ontario Fire
Code, 4.2.2.1)
Where class I liquids are dispensed into metallic containers, the
containers must be bonded. If the container is plastic, static must be
controlled. (Ontario Fire Code, 4.1.8)
A maximum of 500 liters may be stored in a flammable storage cabinet, of
which no more than 250 liters may be class I. Cabinets must be labeled and
conform to ULC-C1275 Storage Cabinets for Flammable Liquid Containers. (Ontario
Fire Code, 4.2.10)
TRANSPORTATION OF DANGEROUS GOODS (TDG)
Employees who ship or receive dangerous goods, or directly supervise a person who ships or receives dangerous goods must have a TDG training certificate and must show it to an inspector immediately on request. (Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulation, 6.8)
