No person may
install any electrical equipment that is not approved by an accredited
certification organization. (Electrical Protection Regulation 92/17, 2)
The employer must ensure that every portable electrical tool used by an employee is of a type intended for commercial or industrial use and certified as safe for its intended purpose by the Canadian Standards Association.
Portable electrical tools must be effectively grounded by using three-wire cords and three-pronged polarized plugs inserted in grounded polarized receptacles, and be provided with double insulation. (General Safety Regulations 1986/164, 40)
